YOUNG GIRL READING GROUP depicts, examines and contextualises the instability of boundaries that renders the reading body and its surroundings as the site of an active and ongoing set of relations, positing the interdependence of the text, the body, the environment and the technology. Recognising reading as an act which shapes the body, YGRG strives to create a new sensibility toward reading as a form of embodied language, a collective practice that underlies complexities of perceived bodies, environments and their entanglement into global digital infrastructures. The constructed spatial settings and trace affinities across social practices, art forms and timeframes, but most of all look to create a reading space that can be shared collectively.

RYXPER1126AE affiziert mich, bevor ich von seiner Existenz weiß, durchdringt mich und wird ein Teil von mir; bevor ich den Wasserfall höre, der über die metallene Kante plätschert, eingebettet in Blöcken aus grauem Styropor, die den schummrigen, blaugrünlich beleuchteten Raum durchziehen; bevor ich die vier Bildschirme sehe, die halbtransparenten, von der Decke hängenden Banner und die Metallflasche, die den Duftstoff RYXPER1126AE enthält – bevor ich den musealen Raum betrete, der für die nächsten zwei Tage Ort des Lese-, Performance- und Schreibworkshops „Weird Read Intensive“ ist. Der Duft, so erfahre ich später, ist die molekulare olfaktorische Manifestation der Performance YGRG159: SULK, der Künstler*innen Dorota Gawęda und Eglė Kulbokaitė, Gründerinnen der Young Girl Reading Group (YGRG), welche sie 2018 auf der Athen-Biennale inszenierten.
